Nuclear safety in the times of cyberterrorism

Kopia Fun and Easy.png

It comes with no surprise that where there are nuclear assets, there is terrorist activity aimed at intercepting them. Whilst it is now next to impossible for terrorists to just storm in and seize uranium or other sensitive materials from nuclear power plants or research centres, they turn to cyber attacks. Those nuclear power plants that use commercial off-the-shelf software or are not properly air-gapped (isolated from public internet) are especially prone to cyber attacks. In the times of uncertainty and constant nuclear threats coming from both state and non-state actors, the Security Council should provide guidelines linked to the cyber safety of nuclear power plants.
